Tales From Malaysia - Viva USA
It’s been a while since I have tickled the ivories of the keyboard but stay with me. Its been a crazy couple of days. Since the internet and my mind aren’t traveling at the same pace I’ve listed some highlights below. 1. My flight was awesome. Got a whole row to myself and stretched out for 16 hours. Landing in Taipei I realized not only had they begun construction since last...

The Day The Music Died
Fifty years gone by so fast.  A long, long time ago… I can still remember How that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, theyd be happy for a while. But february made me shiver With every paper Id deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldnt take one more step. I cant remember if I cried When I read about his widowed...

The One Thing You'll Never Hear Me Brag About
Since only my friends, family and people my friends and family pay read this blog, it is no secret that I am addicted to Maury Povich paternity shows. It isn’t as bad as my Duggar addiction, but it could be labeled hazardous to my health. Since the shows come on twice daily in LA, I am able to tape these segments of glory and watch them back to back. It is sad and good to be me. Where am I...

Damn You, Amy Grant Song in Grocery Store
Me: Are you and KK working together later? Matthew: Yep. I go back to my book, Matthew goes back to computer. A minute later. Matthew: Did she used to be  a gospel singer? Me: KAREN?! Why would you ask that? Matthew: No, Amy Grant.

This is insane and glorious. Wait until about 1:30 or 2:00 minutes when they start touching the wall while flying.  Thanks Cole!

50,000 Jobs Lost In ONE DAY!
Seriously? I can’t even be witty or sarcastic. This morning has been unbelievable.  Home Depot, ING, Sprint, Pfizer, etc., all laid off numerous employees this morning. The corporate ladder is firewood at the moment and everyone is getting burned. Thoughts and wishes to all who are victims.

Reason 487 Why Amanda is My Roomie
For those of you who have never been to my pad, we have an extremely long driveway. This is a wonderful addition during parties and other social gatherings but the early morning car shuffle isn’t always fun. Especially if you’ve had champagne and turkey tacos the previous night. Or if the dog next door has come in and shat in your driveway. Or if you’re running late for work,...

Momma-San Is A Fan of Flo Rida?
Mom: I was looking at the photos from the hospital and there is one where you have your hand in front of your face. Me: I’m sure I look stellar after hours without sleep. Mom: All I could think about was you looked like you were dancing and I started singing that song “Oh hot damn! This is my jam!” Me: Wait..what?! Mom: You know “throw your hands in the AI-ER...

Only in Los Angeles
Captains Log Stardate 2009, approximately 12:48 p.m.  While in line at my local grocery store Lindsay Lohan was in front of me purchasing four packs of Parliament Lights and 1 bottle of Smart Water. The lead singer from KORN stood behind me purchasing 10 (yes, 10) Digiorno pizzas and a mini-keg.  I felt my purchases of a bottle of champagne, pickles, horseradish and Phish Food fro-yo by Ben...

Take Time.
From a modern day Gene Kelly. Hearts to Cole.  wearelove: From an email I received from Mom this morning. Short and very sweet: A man sat at a metro station in  Washington, DC and started to play the violin. It was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the...

I Couldn't Pick A Favorite
Although the amount Bush sued Enterprise for and won is pretty hilarious. Only Harpers could produce a list like this.

I Couldn't Make This Up If I Was Getting Paid
Direct Email from Lulu to myself, Nicholas and Nicole: This man is attempting to sell me his mattress… www.ondamoney.com  My response: Can he sell me his confidence and coiffed hair? Nicholas’s response: I want him to sell me the rights to his song. I was too blinded by the SCREAMING WORDS, cornrows with a side of Mens Warehouse suit and the famous bronze bull to even notice a...

Weekend Update: I Love The Power Glove
Not as much as I love the 1988 movie “The Wizard”. When one thinks of classic, pivotal cinema, one cannot help but remember the “joy stick hero” masterpiece that is The Wizard. Basic premise: Fred Savage has younger autistic brother whom he rescues from asylum with plans of taking Jimmy (said brother) to California where they were once truly happy. Along the way they pick...

Great Scot!
Had it not been for the overwhelming ballgown (compete with tulle and taffeta), the scent of Victoria Secret’s Pear Berry Spray (that I wore in Junior High, a thank you!), the shockingly perfect pageant hair (complete with butterfly clips) and 2-inch fake nails with hot pink tips, I would have NEVER - not even for a second - guess you and a friend had won a radio contest to visit LA for a...

What Is Life?
It starts with a call in the middle of the night. I reach for the phone dazed, still asleep, wondering why my feet are hot but my hands are freezing. Matthew turns and moves unaware of my whispered responses and Cindy saying calmly “It’s time.”  Teeth are brushed, books are packed, telephone charger is smashed into an already full purse as I hit the freeway at 3:48 am on...

I Challenge You To A Duel
I have taken my glove off and thrown it at your feet in earnest. Yes, this is a real duel and I expect real results (unlike the master cleanse).  Last night myself, Roberto, Krystian and my Mom engaged in a “pro-level” of Jenga? What is pro-level you may ask? How does one reach this path of enlightenment? The tower has to be over 36 stories high and STILL playable.  Do it people. I...

The Student Has Become The Teacher
Me: I just can’t get out of bed and I need to eat something. But I don’t want to cook either. (said in wimpy, pathetic sick voice)  The closest drive through is Taco Bell. Krystian (my 12-year-old nephew): TACO BELL! HAVE YOU NO SHAME?! At least go to Jack In The Box. You can’t be that sick.

Things I've Learned Since Friday
1. No matter how hard I try, my nephew’s hand will not stop growing and is indeed, bigger than mine. 2. I can still kick his ass at Air Hockey. Side note, why isn’t Air Hockey and Olympic Sport? When I mean I would DOMINATE, I mean like total domination. Small Pox styles. 3. My knowledge of the Spanish language is beyond reprehensible. Spending time with Roberto’s parents and...
